Hi to Everyone from Heber City!

It is is a busy week for quilting ~ had one of my quilts posted in a national podcast website newsletter that was kind-of a thrill for me: http://www.thequiltshow.com/os/newsletters.php/newsletters_id/1200/newsletters_categories_id/1

and this week is the Home Machine Quilting Show Expo at the SouthTowne Center in Sandy. Having participated in a small way for the past two years, I was invited to help the judges as they judged the quilted jacket and vest category this year. This show brings in teachers and judges from around the country, and had over 300 quilts and quilted garments for this prestigious quilt show. I invited Renee' to be on my committee to help the judges, and we were treated to dinner with the them last Monday. Then Wednesday, even though it was her birthday, Renee' enjoyed helping with the judging that morning, working as their scribe. THANKS, RENEE'!

I stayed until about 7:00 pm helping to set up the show and the 4-H booth. Our county Extension Agent, Debbie Proctor also helped with the judging. Because she has a booth, Debbie asked Lauren to give her prize-winning quilting demonstration that she used last January at the 4-H Nationals in Denver. So she will be giving it today at 4:00 pm on a large stage with seating for about 300 people. They are sending down a cameraman from Utah State to film it, and we wish her the best.

In addition, for the third year in a row, some friends and I participated in the Design Challenge, where you are given fabric to use with certain rules to come up with a quilt. We won 2nd place, with a prize of $300. YEAH! We won 1st the first year, 2nd the 2nd year and we were shooting for 3rd this year, so we are thrilled. The theme is "Pump Up the Color" and yes, it was a challenge!! But somehow it worked.

OK, then the final thrilling moment for me was to hear my name and see my cute little wall hanging with wool flowers up on the screen as they announced the 3rd place winner in Wall Hangings with a cash prize of $200. So much fun! Not bad, for a bunch of Hicks from Heber ÜÜÜ
